Application description
Widely used in long-distance oil and gas transmission pipelines, water supply and sewerage systems, chemical plants, and underground or subsea utility lines. Also suitable for pipeline rehabilitation projects and corrosive soil environments. The three-layer polyethylene coating provides exceptional protection against corrosion, mechanical damage, and cathodic disbondment, ensuring extended service life in harsh buried and submerged conditions.

Production description
Base steel pipe is cleaned by shot blasting (Sa 2.5 grade). FBE powder is electrostatically sprayed onto heated pipe (200-250°C). Copolymer adhesive is then applied, followed by extruded polyethylene outer layer. The coated pipe is water-cooled, inspected for porosity (spark test), and ends cut back for field welding.

Shipping Packaging
For export, 3PE coated steel pipes are fitted with plastic end caps, bundled with steel straps and wooden separators, packed on steel skids or ISPM-15 pallets, and secured with edge protectors. Coated surfaces are wrapped with foam or polyethylene film to prevent scratches. Labels include base pipe grade, coating thickness, dimensions, and heat number.

Why Choose Us?
1.Factory Strength: Direct manufacturer with integrated shot blasting, FBE spraying, adhesive coating, and PE extrusion lines, producing 3PE coated pipes for base pipe diameters 21.3-3048mm to DIN 30670, ISO 21809-1, and GB/T 23257 standards.
2.Quality Assurance: Strict control of coating adhesion (≥100 N/cm), holiday-free (15kV spark test), cathodic disbondment (≤8mm), and impact resistance; 100% thickness and porosity inspection; compliant with international coating specifications.

FAQ
1. How to store 3PE coated steel pipes to prevent coating damage?
Store on dry, level ground on wooden sleepers or padded supports, keep pipes elevated and bundled with soft separators. Do not roll bare coated pipes over sharp rocks or steel. Avoid dropping or dragging pipes. For outdoor storage, cover with UV-protective tarpaulin. Minor coating scratches should be repaired with heat shrink patches or epoxy repair kits.
2. What is the recommended cut-back length for field welding?
Standard cut-back length is 100-150mm of bare pipe at each end (coating removed). This allows welding of joints without damaging the coating. Shorter cut-back (50-80mm) may be used for smaller diameters. After welding and NDT, the field joint is coated with heat shrink sleeves or liquid epoxy to match the 3PE system. We supply compatible joint coating materials.
3. What is the difference between 3PE and FBE coated pipes?
3PE (three-layer polyethylene) combines FBE primer for adhesion, copolymer adhesive, and a thick polyethylene outer layer for mechanical protection and cathodic disbondment resistance. It is thicker (1.8-4.5mm) and ideal for buried pipelines where rock impact or high abrasion is expected. FBE (fusion bonded epoxy) is a single layer (300-600µm) providing excellent corrosion resistance but less mechanical protection, suitable for less abrasive soils or above-ground service where impact risk is low.
