Application description
Widely used in offshore pipelines (risers, subsea flowlines), directional drilling, slurry transport, sewage outfall lines, and water intake systems. Also suitable for abrasive media transport, pipe jacking projects, and coastal protection works. The high abrasion, impact, and corrosion resistance make it ideal for harsh environments including rock contact, high flow velocity, and marine conditions.

Production description
Steel pipe is shot blasted to Sa 2.5 and preheated. Two-component liquid polyurethane is mixed and applied by spray or pour onto the pipe surface, forming a seamless elastomeric layer. The coating cures without heating. Coated pipe is inspected (holiday test, thickness) and ends cut back for field welding.

Shipping Packaging
For export, polyurethane coated pipes are fitted with plastic end caps, bundled with wooden separators and steel straps, packed on ISPM-15 pallets or steel skids, and protected with edge protectors. Coated surfaces may be wrapped with foam or polyethylene film. Labels include grade, coating thickness, dimensions, and heat number for safe sea freight.

Why Choose Us?
Factory Strength: Direct manufacturer with automated shot blasting lines, polyurethane spray/pour application equipment, and in-house curing/holiday testing, producing PU coated pipes from 50mm to 1420mm OD to ISO 21809-11, DIN 30670, AWWA C222, and GB/T 24527 standards.
Quality Assurance: Strict control of coating adhesion (pull-off ≥10 MPa), holiday-free (5-15kV spark test), abrasion resistance (≤50mm³ Taber loss), and mechanical properties (tensile ≥20MPa, elongation ≥400%); 100% thickness and porosity inspection.
Certifications & Reports: Mill test certificates for base pipe and PU coating materials with each shipment; third-party inspections (SGS, BV) and coating test reports (adhesion, thickness, porosity, abrasion, cathodic disbondment, UV resistance) available upon request.
Customization & Service: Wide base pipe grades (API 5L Gr B–X80, ASTM A106, Q235B/Q355B, stainless steel), diameters 50–1420mm, coating thickness 1.0–5.0mm, custom colors (RAL), UV-stabilized or high-temperature formulations, cut-back length custom, and fast lead times.
Export Packaging: Plastic end caps + foam/polyethylene wrapping + wooden separators + steel strapping + ISPM-15 pallets/steel skids + edge protectors + clear labeling for safe sea freight and coating protection.
FAQ
1. How to store polyurethane coated pipes to prevent coating damage?
Store on dry, level ground on padded wooden sleepers with soft separators between layers. Keep pipes bundled and elevated. Avoid rolling, dragging, or impact that could cut or tear the elastomeric coating. For outdoor storage, UV-stabilized PU grades are recommended; standard PU should be covered with light-blocking tarpaulin within 3 months. Repair deep scratches with polyurethane repair compound.
2. What is the difference between polyurethane (PU) coating and 3PE or FBE coatings?
PU coating is a flexible elastomer with extremely high abrasion resistance (≤50mm³ Taber loss) and good impact resistance, ideal for offshore, directional drilling, pipe jacking, and slurry transport where mechanical damage is severe. 3PE offers thick, rigid protection for buried pipelines. FBE provides excellent adhesion and cathodic disbondment at lower thickness. Choose PU for dynamic mechanical stress, 3PE for general buried, FBE for high-temperature or thin-film applications.
3. Can PU coated pipes be used for drinking water transmission?
Yes, provided the polyurethane formulation meets drinking water standards (e.g., NSF/ANSI 61, ACS, WRAS). We offer drinking water grade PU coatings that are inert, non-toxic, and resistant to disinfectants. Request certification documentation for compliance.
